Writing has been an important outlet in my life. Growing up introverted, I found it difficult to express my emotions and thoughts appropriately with words and turning to writing has helped me convey what’s on my mind. Several aspects of my identity, including being a highly sensitive and observant person, have majorly influenced my writing style.
I love to work with personal narratives during sessions because it allows me to connect with other students on a deep personal level. I also like to help with argumentative essays as I can learn from other people’s points of view, and it allows me to keep an open mind about the world around me.
Outside of my academic life I enjoy journaling, drawing, dancing, listening to music, watching films, and spending time with my friends. My favorite genre is horror, whether it’s in books, TV, or movies and I like to experience fictional dystopian stories with an anxiety-inducing plot (The Last of Us, Alice in Borderland, etc.).
My best advice for writers who are struggling to get something out there is that writing requires a lot of patience and practice. Take your time, don’t be harsh on yourself and write the first thought that comes to mind. From there, writing becomes more enjoyable, and you’ll find your ideas flowing at a much quicker and easier pace.
