Proposal
Proposal to change the payroll frequency from monthly to semi-monthly for all employees – faculty, staff and monthly students (graduate students-example: RA’s, TA’s). Hourly employees will not be impacted.
Why?
Assist in the standardization of pay where employees receive more frequent payments and help with budgeting.
Classified Non-exempt Employees will receive payments sooner.
Timeline
If approved, the transition would be completed by the end of Fall Semester and Beginning of Calendar Year 2025, with first semi-monthly paycheck issued January 23, 2025.
Pay Dates and Pay Periods
UTEP paydays would be around the 7th and the 21st (or next business day of each month)

What is semi-monthly payroll? When will I get paid?
Semi-Monthly payroll means receiving payment twice a month. Or 24 paychecks in a calendar year. Pay dates will typically fall around the 7th and 22nd of the month.
When is this change going to happen?
If approved, the transition would be completed by the end of the Fall Semester and Beginning of Calendar Year 2025.
When will be the first pay date?
First semi-monthly paycheck issued January 23, 2025.
How will my benefit deductions be impacted?
All deductions would be taken in equal installments spread over 24 payments per year.
How will my tax withholdings be impacted?
