Application Process for the Online M.F.A.

Please read closely and/or print the linked page before you apply to UTEP’s Online M.F.A. Program. Your admission will depend as much on your ability to follow these instructions as the quality of your applications.

Deadline for Applications:

For Fall: April 15th

Please note that this is the absolute final deadline for each academic year. All materials, both online and paper, must be in our office by this date. Please apply early to give your recommenders and other universities plenty of time to post your materials online.

Minimum requirements for admission

  • A bachelor degree in any field of study.
  • A professional-quality writing sample: 8–10 poems or 20 pages of fiction.
  • An official transcript of your undergraduate studies.
  • A Statement of Purpose, no more than three pages.
  • Three letters of recommendation.

All students must fill out a Graduate School Application in Embark and must pay an application fee.
