HISTORY CAMPAIGN
The Black Affinity Group (BAG) believes that it is critical to consistently honor and remember the past, even here at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). BAG believes that we must take
time to highlight the experiences of all our known and unsung heroes. In this spirit, BAG is invoking a call to action to document the Black experience within the rich history of UTEP (Previously known as Texas Western). This call to action represents a celebration of the past and present, Black community, and to keep it alive and thriving well into the future.
BAG, in collaboration with the UTEP Library, have created a Community Archive collection to which the UTEP and El Paso community can submit stories, photos, and oral interviews highlighting the experience of Black people at UTEP and the region. The submission guide is available at the following link:

BAG invites all to read, submit, reflect, and, most importantly, be inspired and encouraged to speak out against injustice. We are here today not to forget the past, but as Dr. King stated, “History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people”. Let us write our own history for our work is yet unfinished.
