The UTEP Maters of Science in Kinesiology features classroom and online courses. The program offers research and learning opportunities in areas including biomechanics, motor behavior, strength and conditioning, and Exercise Physiology, with faculty mentors that specialize in each area. Faculty and student research teams conduct projects in the Department’s state of the art research laboratories including:

• Muscle Physiology Laboratory
• Virtual Reality and Motor Control Research Lab
• Metabolic, Nutrition and Exercise Research (MiNER) Lab
• Stanley E. Fulton Gait Research & Movement Analysis Lab

Graduates of the UTEP Masters in Kinesiology degree are competitive candidates for research and entry-level teaching positions in industry, government and academia, or may decide to establish their own fitness facility or exercise physiology practice. The program also prepares students for competitive entry into a Doctor of Kinesiology degree or to seek admission to the UTEP  Interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Health Sciences program, with Kinesiology faculty members as their major advisors.

The Kinesiology Graduate Program is unique because of the following features:

• A low faculty to student ratio.
• Laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art research instrumentation.
• Students can pursue research on externally funded research.
• Students can conduct research in human fitness, strength and conditioning, motor learning and control, biomechanics, and exercise physiology
• In collaboration with other UT Systems Campuses students may be able to take online courses towards degree completion.
  
• Undergraduate students have the opportunity to take up to five (5) graduate courses in their undergraduate program on the Fast Track

For full admission into the master’s program in Kinesiology, students must present:

• An undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or a related field from an accredited institution with an overall GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• A grade of C or better in the following courses:  Motor Behavior, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics
• Written statement of purpose for pursuing graduate degree.
• TOEFL score of at least 550 paper based (80 Internet based) for students for whom English is a foreign language. Score of at least 600/100 required for TA positions.

For conditional admission into the master’s program in Kinesiology, students must present:

• An undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or a related field from an accredited institution with an overall GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
• A grade of C or better in the following courses:  Motor Behavior, Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics
• Written statement of purpose for pursuing graduate degree.
• TOEFL score of at least 550 paper based (80 Internet based) for students for whom English is a foreign language. Score of at least 600/100 required for TA positions.
