UTEP’s CyberAICorps® Scholarship for Service Program

Benefits

• Academic year stipends: $27,000 per academic year for undergraduate students in dual-credit program and $37,000 per academic year for graduate students.
• Professional Development: Up to $6,000 per academic year for research materials, books, supplies, professional training, certifications, and attendance at cyber/AI conferences and SFS job fairs.
• Tuition: Full-paid tuition and mandatory fees.

Eligibility Requirements

• Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
• Employment: Must be eligible for federal employment
• Clearance: Must be able to obtain a security clearance and pass a background check.
• Undergraduate Criteria:
  1. Enroll in the BSCS/MSAI fast-track program (allows up to 15 dual undergraduate and graduate credits hours).
  2. Have completed 90 or more credit hours of the BSCS degree (with at least 24 hours completed at UTEP).
  3. Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.3.
  4. Have senior standing by the time of acceptance.
• Graduate Criteria:  
  
  1. Enroll in the MSAI or Ph.D.-CS programs.
  2. Have a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5
  3. Ph.D. students must be enrolled for at least one year and show evidence of advanced research activities in cybersecurity and/or AI.

Scholarship Obligations
The CyberAICorps® Scholarship for Service (CyberAI SFS) program provides students with a scholarship in exchange for federal, state, local, and tribal government service. Awarded students must commit to:

• Complete their degree program successfully and on time.
• Participate in research with Applied AI innovation (AAII) and/or National Security Institute (NSI).
• For every year of funding, students must:
  
  1. Complete a summer internship with a participating government agency
  2. Attend the annual CyberAICorps® SFS job fair in Washington, D.C.
• Serve in federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial government positions after graduation. The service obligation will be equal to one year for each year of funding received.
