Community Work-Study Mentorship and Internship Program

Serve Your Community while investing in future. Strengthen your résumé, earn a paycheck and build skills through paid internships with nonprofit organizations across the region.

Eligibility

To participate, students must:

• Be degree-seeking
• Be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours during fall and spring)
• Be awarded Federal Work-Study through Financial Aid
• Meet UTEP's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements
• Complete all required Financial Aid employment and training requirements

How to Apply

Community partner organizations typically begin posting positions in August and September, with additional opportunities added throughout the year.

What to Expect

Community Work-Study students:

• Work approximately 15–19 hours per week
• Receive mentorship from community partners
• Complete required orientations and program activities
• Develop professional and leadership skills
• Contribute to meaningful community projects

Students are expected to communicate professionally, arrive on time, complete assigned responsibilities and represent UTEP with integrity.

The CUE

The CUE is UTEP's online platform for discovering volunteer opportunities, tracking service hours and connecting with community partners.

Students can use The CUE to:

• Find volunteer opportunities
• Track service hours
• Submit reflections
• Communicate with community partners
• Verify volunteer hours
