Bridging the Past and Future: CTIS Research Connect
On November 21, 2024, the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems (CTIS) hosted CTIS Research Connect: Bridging the Past and Future at the University of Texas at El Paso. This forum served as a bridge between the groundbreaking contributions of CTIS alumni and the promising future of transportation engineering.
The event featured inspiring presentations from accomplished alumni, including Nancy Beltran, Director of Concrete Pavements at the Cement Council of Texas; Luiza Barros, Director of Quality Advancement at Texas Materials; Gisel Carrasco, TxDOT Austin District Engineer; Ruben Carrasco, TxDOT Austin District Pavement Analysis and Design Branch Manager; and Aldo Madrid, TxDOT El Paso District Director of Construction. These industry leaders shared their career journeys and insights, inspiring attendees to envision new possibilities in transportation innovation.
The day concluded with a vibrant research poster session, where CTIS students showcased their latest projects. This session fostered meaningful connections between students and alumni, creating an enriching platform for mentorship, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
