There are many ways your company or foundation can build a partnership with UTEP. We can work with you to develop a plan in one of the areas listed below or help you explore options to suit your interests and goals. Please contact us for more information.
Academic Positions
Your support allows UTEP to recruit and retain talented and experienced faculty in order to continue to provide access to a quality education.
Student Support
Companies and foundations can support students through fellowships and scholarships. By establishing scholarships, you will enable talented students to concentrate on course work, free from the worry of next year’s tuition.
Research
UTEP’s significant progress in research and doctoral education during the past 20 years has put UTEP at the forefront in achieving Tier One status. The average annual expenditure for research at Tier One universities is over $100 million. Critical discoveries in UTEP labs are made possible through the generosity of our giving partners.
Facilities
Funding existing and new facilities allows corporations and foundations to make a long-term impact on UTEP and the community. Contributing to facilities is a great way for a company or foundation to show support for the value of higher education.
Corporate Matching Funds and Volunteerism
By matching their employees' gifts to UTEP, companies and foundations show support for UTEP by increasing the impact of a gift and encouraging philanthropy among employees.
Corporate and Foundation Relations works closely with the UTEP Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP) to accelerate the research and sponsored program enterprise. For more information on how you can partner with UTEP, please contact Jennifer Venegas, Corporate & Foundation Relations Manager at (915) 747-6596 or via email at jvenegas2@utep.edu.
You can rely on CFR to help articulate your project ideas in order to improve the funding potential. Based on project needs, CFR staff will help identify potential corporate and foundation donors, and connect UTEP projects with partner's fields of interest.
Once identified, CFR can help develop general or donor-specific cultivation strategies and contact corporations and foundations through the appropriate channel.
CFR will review, edit and coordinate proposal submissions. Staff will develop proposal language specific to project needs and campus-wide issues, and will assure proposals adhere to UTEP and donor policies.
As a proposal is approved by a donor, CFR staff will acknowledge gift agreements, ensure gifts are properly recorded and will develop stewardship strategies specific to the donor and project.
Please contact us for more information on how we can help.
UTEP assists graduate and undergraduate students and alumni with the career planning process, including the search for internship/cooperative education opportunities and professional employment upon graduation.
Together, the University Career Center and the CFR team can facilitate opportunities for customized on-campus recruitment visits and other opportunities to participate in the lives of our students.

What should I do before contacting a funder?
You must first have a clear understanding of your project: what do you want to research and why, what is your timeline, who will be doing the work, how much will the project cost, how will your project be evaluated, will your project be sustainable?
Once the scope of your project has been defined, it is imperative that you contact CFR to ensure that your project is coordinated with other UTEP efforts. By offering experience, contacts and context, staff can assist and guide you through the proposal process and add value to what you do.
Should I get in touch with CFR even if I don’t need help with my proposal?
Corporate and Foundation Relations should be an early point of contact. Our office may already have a relationship with the donor. We may know of any restrictions donors place on the number of applications UTEP, as an institution, may submit and we may be aware of any pending and funded proposals that may be jeopardized by unsolicited proposals.
What should I do when my proposal has been accepted?
Please notify and send a copy of the award letter to CFR to ensure gifts are properly recorded. Staff will help develop stewardship strategies and help sort through any reporting responsibilities in the grant agreement.
What should I do if my proposal is denied?
Work closely with CFR to explore ways to get feedback from the donor. Some corporations and foundations are willing to offer feedback after rejecting a proposal.
What other funding resources are available at UTEP?
Corporate and Foundation Relations coordinates efforts with a number of offices on campus to ensure that faculty and administrators receive support on a full range of proposal types. Please contact the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects for more information.
