The tremendous growth in the student population on campus and faculty’s use of advanced technologies in the classroom and research data centers, require equivalent investments in the University’s largely unseen telecommunication infrastructures.
I am proud to announce that the Telecommunication Infrastructure department (TI) continues to meet these challenges by providing a solid network environment providing extensive fiber optic telecommunication backbones throughout campus as well as establishing high-capacity network services to all educational and administrative buildings.
Thru these network infrastructures, the TI department supports students’ success and faculty research by providing direct access to data networks, wireless connectivity, Internet and Internet2 resources, academic technologies, and research centers.
The technical staff and student workers of the TI department proudly stand by to ensure the UTEP community is always connected to our local educational communities, Texas higher education institutions, and national educational and research organizations.
