Visitors from Kazakhstan at CIBS!
Visitors from Kazakhstan at CIBS! On August 1st of 2019, The Center for Inter-American and Border Studies received visitors from border control agencies in Kazakhstan. The visitors’ goals were to learn about the U.S.-Mexico border. Dr. Josiah Heyman, the director of CIBS explained current immigration issues at the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as economic, social and political relationships that these two countries share. He also mentioned to the guests that although the CIBS program mainly focuses on the U.S.-Mexico border, other borders in Latin America and around world are covered. Our guests were impressed that a university from the United States focuses on these issues. This talk was an example of how borders around the world have related issues, and how students and visitors learn about them.
