María de los Ángeles Flores
Dr. María de los Ángeles Flores is an Assistant Professor of Journalism with the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her research interests include journalism labor, political communication, and television studies. Dr. Flores has published scholarly work in English and Spanish in several national and international academic journals and edited books. Her research has appeared in Journalism Practice, Journal of Spanish Language Media, Revista Norteamérica, Estudios Fronterizos, Revista Contextualizaciones Latinoamericanas, Revista Convergencia, Pensamento Comunicacional Latino Americano, Sonic Politics: Music and Social Movements in the Americas, The Mass Media and Latino Politics, Women, Men, and News: Divided and Disconnected in the News Media Landscape, Ibero-American Television Fiction Observatory-OBITEL, and other outlets.
Dr. Flores has been awarded several research grants including the UTEP-University Research Institute, National Association of Hispanic Journalists-NAHJ, TAMIU-University Research Grant, and St. Edward’s University’s-University Faculty Development Grant, among others. She is a member of several communication associations including Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, Western Social Science Association, International Communication Association, International Association for Media and Communication Research, and Association of Borderlands Studies, among others. Dr. Flores is currently teaching theoretical and practical courses such as COMM 2310 Basic Multimedia Journalism Writing, COMM 4372 Methods of Research in Communication, and others. Dr. Flores earned a Ph.D. in journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.
