Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice & Security Studies
Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice, one of the largest undergraduate programs at UTEP. Our department is committed to offering high quality and innovative learning experiences, and to make your transition to UTEP as seamless as possible. We offer the following undergraduate degrees: BA-Criminal Justice (on-campus and 100% online), BA-Security Studies (100% online), as well as two minors: (1) Criminal Justice and (2) Intelligence and Security Studies. At the graduate level, we offer the following graduate degrees: MS-Criminology and Criminal Justice (on-campus), Master of Defense and Strategic Studies (100% online), and MS-Intelligence and National Security Studies. Dr. Amanda Goodson was awarded the American Society of Criminology’s (ASC) New Scholar Award!
This honor is awarded to an early career (within 5 years of obtaining a PhD) scholar whose research accomplishments have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the field of criminology and feminist scholarship. She received the award during the DFC Reception and Awards Breakfast in San Francisco last week.

Dr. Chris Guerra won the New Scholar Award from the Division on People of Color and Crime (DPCC)
A division of the ASC This is extremely important because this is the division Chris closely associates with given his background and research focus. He received the award at the DPCC luncheon in San Francisco last week as well.
