HERA 2023 Conference: March 8 - 11, 2023 in El Paso, Texas

HERA conference will be a hybrid conference this year hosted by University of Texas at El Paso.
Conference will be held on campus at the University of Texas at El Paso's Union East building on the 3rd floor. Presenters visiting the face-to-face conference will stay at the Hilton Garden Inn which is located on campus at 111 W. University Ave. El Paso, Texas 79902. For those participating internationally or for other reasons can not attend in person, we are offering a hybrid version with limited seating.

IN-PERSON ATTENDEE NOTICE: If you are planning to present a PowerPoint or some other type of digital file, please bring it on a USB flash drive and have it saved either in your email or a cloud service like Google Drive or OneDrive in case of compatibility issues. The USB ports for the conference room monitors/screen may not be compatible with Mac-formatted flash drives.
VIRTUAL ATTENDEE NOTICE: HERA Conference Zoom links will be posted on this conference page the week of the conference. An email will be sent to all virtual attendees before the conference that will also include the Zoom conference links and the password. Panel sessions are set at U.S. Mountain Time.

CONFERENCE SUBMISSIONS
All proposals are due via submission links below by February 1, 2023.
Submissions are encouraged from educators at all levels (including undergraduate/graduate students) as well as all those with an interest in the arts and humanities. Proposals for papers, panels, or workshops (150-200 words) must be submitted through the conference e-submission links below. Submissions are processed on a first come, first serve basis and decision notifications will be sent out within one to two weeks from submission. After receiving confirmation, participants can pay registration and membership fees via Paypal links or by check. If paying by check please fill out either the "in-person" or "virtual" Conference Registration & Membership fee form downloadable below and make check out to HERA in U.S. dollars.

Undergraduate Research Prize e-Submissions
Undergraduate students may apply for only one of the two undergraduate prizes.
Panels involving student award applicants will be recorded for judging purposes.
Undergraduate Research Award applicants must be sponsored by a professor, covering both membership and registration fees for the student in addition to professor fees.
HERA's Undergraduate Research Award e-Submission, a prize of $1,000 awarded to the best undergraduate conference paper (or divided among a panel of papers), sponsored by an attending professor (with a $500 prize awarded to the professor). Creative presentations, readings, and exhibitions are also welcomed.

HERA's Undergraduate Humanities Diversity Award, a prize of $500 will be awarded to the best undergraduate conference paper that addresses race, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality. Creative presentations, readings, and exhibitions are also welcomed.
