Diana L. Esparza, M.M.

Voice

Diana L. Esparza joined the music faculty of UTEP in 2016. For the past eight years, she taught on the voice faculty of the Universidad Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez. At UACJ she also taught Opera Workshop and Choir, preparing the choruses for many productions with the OSUACJ like Madama Butterfly, La traviata, L’elisir d’amore as well as choral productions like Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Opera Gala concerts with guest artists from the Mexican opera scene. She led the background vocals for Sarah Brightman’s concert in Ciudad Juárez for the Festival Internacional Chihuahua. In addition to her teaching in Juárez, Esparza taught choir for seven years at Henderson Middle School in El Paso, where she also coordinated the Fine Arts Concerts.

Ms. Esparza has performed at the Festival Internacional Cervantino singing jazz with Mensajero ensemble on several occasions. She has also performed in El Paso area opera, musical theater and zarzuela performances, including productions of The Magic Flute, Sweeney Todd, Amahl and the Night Visitors, El Rey León, Los Olvidados, La Visita, Le nozze di Figaro, La Perichole, Agua Azucarillos y Aguardiente, La Gran Via, as well as other solo performances. She has also performed recitals and operatic roles in Freiberg, Leipzig and Radebeul, Germany.

Esparza maintains a private voice studio in Ciudad Juárez. She received her Bachelor in Music Education and Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Texas at El Paso.
