Professor Volpert-Esmond Named APS Rising Star

The Association for Psychological Science named their Rising Stars earlier this year. Among them was UTEP’s Department of Psychology Assistant Professor Hannah Volpert-Esmond. Professor Volpert-Esmond has been at UTEP since 2020 and oversees the Race, Ethnicity, Neuroscience and Health lab (RENH). Her research focuses on how racial and ethnic categories are constructed and perceived, and how race/ethnicity-based prejudice and discrimination affect health or other consequences. This research employs a variety of methodologies, including EEG/ERPs, cardiovascular measurement, daily diary or other intensive longitudinal assessments, lab-based behavioral experiments, and self-report surveys... Professor Cherry Duke Appointed Artistic Director of El Paso Opera

The Department of Music’s Cherry Duke was recently appointed Artistic Director to the El Paso Opera. Duke, a Professor of Practice and Director of Opera at UTEP has been heavily involved with all things El Paso Opera and was most recently the Director of Resident Artists.
