Theatre and Dance Professor Wins Prestigious Award
Assistant Professor Adriana Dominguez, Ph.D. from Department of Theatre and Dance program has been chosen as the recipient of the Gold Medallion, a prestigious award presented by The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. This nationwide theater program engages 18,000 students from colleges and universities throughout the United States annually. Dr. Dominguez was honored with this award due to her dedication and outstanding contributions to educational theatre. The main objectives of KCACTF are to inspire, recognize, and celebrate the exceptional and diverse theatrical productions in university and college programs. Moreover, the program offers participants the chance to improve their theatrical abilities, acquire valuable insights, and cultivate a professional mindset.
Dr. Dominguez's work has been featured in various publications such as the Journal of Latina Critical Feminism, Camino Real, and Theatre Topics. She has also secured successful funding for projects from the TCA and the NEA. Some of her notable projects include Heroes and Saints, Real Women Have Curves, Luna, El Toro y La Nina, A Christmas Carol, en la Frontera, Cenicienta, and various community engagement projects.
