Little Amal Continues Her International Walk At UTEP
This fall will see Little Amal, a 12-foot Syrian refugee doll, journey across the United States to support and raise awareness for displaced children whether it be due to war, persecution, or violence. Little Amal is a representation of a 10-year-old Syrian refugee child. She has walked nearly 11,000 miles into 40 different cities since July 2021. The Amal Fund partnered with Choose Love, a humanitarian movement dedicated to providing aid to refugees in crisis, to support young people in their educational pursuits wherever they choose to rebuild their new home. The fund provides academic training as well as food, shelter, and medical services to those in need.
In partnership with the City of El Paso and UTEP, Amal will start her walk at UTEP’s Interdisciplinary Research Building on Thursday, October 26th at 9:00am and concluding her visit at Centennial Plaza. Amal will meet with Bhutanese and other international students, who have recently arrived in this country, just as she has. Her urgent message to the world is “Don’t forget about us”, hoping to remind people of the stories of child refugees and their journeys. Come join Amal on her walk; this event is free and open to the public.
