Josey Pickett
Josey Pickett is a PhD Teaching Assistant and works with audience engagement for the Department of Theatre & Dance at UTEP. She received her BFA in Dance Performance and MEd in Education from the University of Texas at El Paso, She is currently a PhD student in Sociocultural Foundations in UTEP’s Teaching, Learning and Culture Program. She was honored as Coronado High School’s 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year and El Paso Independent School District's top ten teachers of the year for 2016-2017. She studied at the Paul Taylor School with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and has interned with Alonso King Lines Ballet. She has performed regionally with Broadway By the Bay in San Mateo, CA and Zilker Theatrical Productions in Austin, TX. Locally she has performs with and choreographs for the UTEP Dinner Theatre, the El Paso Opera, Viva! El Paso, Ballet El Paso, UTEP Ballet, Tumbleweed Dance Collective, the Caldo Collective and the Tom Lea Institute. She is an El Paso Community Foundation Community Impact Grant recipient, a member of the Texas Dance Educators Association and a member and presenter for the National Dance Educators Organization. At UTEP she has taught Jazz and Other Stage Forms and Dance Theatre Lab.
