Jaime Barba, Interim Director
Jaime has been Interim Director of the Dinner Theatre since August of 2023. Prior to that, he was the Dinner Theatre’s Costume Designer from 2006-2018, having designed and constructed over 72 shows. He has been a faculty member in the Theater Arts and Dance Department at the University of Texas at El Paso since 2006. He has been directing shows at the UDT since 2009 to include RENT, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, GREASE, GUYS AND DOLLS, 9 TO 5, FOOTLOOSE, WEST SIDE STORY, A CHORUS LINE, CABARET, NEWSIES, SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, THE WEDDING SINGER, THE PROM, DAMN YANKEES, WE WILL ROCK YOU, LEGALLY BLONDE, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL. He produced, created and directed UDT IN CONCERT as a celebration of the UDT’s 40th anniversary. He was Hair and Wig Designer at the UTEP Dinner Theatre from 1992-2018. He also created, produced and directed The GREATEST SHOW Gala and performance for the very first UTEP Dinner Theatre fundraising event. He was the Artistic Director and Costume Designer for VIVA! EL PASO From 2004-2013. Jaime has appeared as a performer on the Dinner Theatre stage (as well as many other local stages) since 1989 having appeared in over 60 musical productions. He has had the opportunity to perform for Sir Tim Rice, lyricist of such musicals as JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, EVITA and JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, among many others, on three separate occasions. He has performed in the American premiere of the Tim Rice musical TYCOON in 1994 and designed the costumes for the world premiere of Tim Rice’s LUTE in 2012. Jaime has also worked/performed with the UTEP Theatre and Dance Department, Southwest Repertory Organization, Music Theatre El Paso, New Group Theatre Troupe, Kids-N-Co, The El Paso Playhouse and was a founding member of Fourth Wall Theatrical Productions.
