The Miner Learning Center (MLC) provides undergraduate UTEP students with free academic support for historically difficult courses through multiple services, which include the Peers Assisting Student Success (PASS) program and Peer Tutoring.
MLC Program participation is a leadership opportunity that will enhance your own learning experience, develop leadership skills, and provide valuable experience for future educational and employment opportunities.
Hybrid Peer Tutor:
The MLC targets historically difficult courses and assigns a Hybrid Peer Tutor to help all students with course material throughout the semester via online tutoring hours and online group review sessions. Peer Tutors are students who previously took the course and earned a grade of B or higher and have knowledge on the course material. Peer Tutors receive training to understand how to accommodate different learning styles through different learning strategies. Hybrid Peer Tutors attend class and have a working relationship with the professors they are supporting to ensure students receive help tailored to the class.
