Overview
New to parking at UTEP? Here is what you need to know. For the full details, read the official Parking Regulations.
Parking on campus
Permits in classes S, P, R, motorcycle, and Housing are restricted to their designated lots. These vehicles may not drive past the guard kiosks onto main campus between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Once parked, the best way to get around is to walk, bike, or hop on a free Miner Metro shuttle.
Parking permits
All vehicles parked on campus must display a valid UTEP parking permit, placed according to the instructions on the permit.
Any vehicle you park on campus must be registered to your permit. You can register a vehicle online or in person at the Parking and Transportation Services office.
All vehicles must be registered with current license plates. If you have a new vehicle and only have a VIN, you may use that temporarily - but you are responsible for updating your plates as soon as they arrive. Enter all digits with no spaces. For out-of-country plates, enter the country name rather than a state.
Parking lots and signage
Every lot has signs indicating which permit types are allowed and when restrictions apply. Most restrictions are in effect weekdays from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, though some areas are reserved at all times.
Posted signs - permanent or temporary - always take precedence over painted curbs, pavement markings, and campus maps.
Citations
If you receive a citation, you have 18 calendar days from the issue date to either pay it or submit an appeal online, by mail, or in person.
Citations are billed first to the permit holder, then to the registered vehicle owner if no permit is displayed. Permit holders are responsible for all citations issued to their permit regardless of who was driving.
