Dr. Md Nurunnabi is an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the University of Texas at El Paso's (UTEP) School of Pharmacy. He additionally holds adjunct faculty positions in UTEP's Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Science & Engineering departments. His extensive educational background includes a B.S. in Pharmacy (UODA), an M.S. in Chemical and Biological Engineering, and a PhD in Bioengineering (Korea National University of Transportation). During his PhD, he was a pre-doctoral research fellow at the University of Utah (2013/2014).
Dr. Nurunnabi's research expertise is further bolstered by his postdoctoral training at Chungnam National University and Harvard University. He leads a laboratory at UTEP that is affiliated with the NIH-funded Border Biomedical Research Center. His commitment to research extends beyond academia; he has substantial industrial research experience (2010-2012), co-founded KB BioMed Inc. (where he remains on the Scientific Advisory Board), and served as an Associate Scientist at Chunbo Corporation Ltd in South Korea.
Dr. Nurunnabi's research contributions are significant. He has authored over 85 peer-reviewed papers, edited two books, and holds 17 issued/pending patents. His leadership is evident in his role on the editorial advisory board of ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering (since 2018) and as Vice-Chair of the Controlled Release Society's Bioinspired and Biomimetic Delivery focus group. Dr. Nurunnabi's influence in his field is further demonstrated by his past leadership roles within the Harvard Medical School Postdoc Association (Secretary, 2016-2017) and the Massachusetts General Hospital Postdoc Association (President, 2017-2018).
