John Leo De Frank

Assistant Director

John Leo De Frank resides on the frontera of U.S.& Mexico. His spheres include filmmaking, grant writing, producing, media education, journalism, and organizing public art events. At the University of Texas at El Paso, Mr. De Frank serves as Assistant Director for UTEP’s Rubin Center for the Visual Arts as well as Adjunct Faculty for the Global Humanities Program. He serves as co-faculty and Media Director for the Layers of Rome Educational Resource and Study Abroad Program in the College of Liberal Arts. Outside the university he is the owner of a small business, De Frank Media, which produces commercial content, documentaries, narrative films, educational media, and journalism multimedia. Occasionally, Mr. De Frank contributes as a regional reporter and journalist and in the area of community building, Mr. De Frank is a member of Movimiento Hunab Ku, an artist collective made up of visual, multimedia, music producers as well as writers, poets and scholars that help address social concerns and needs through art. Mr. De Frank has served as a grant writer and event coordinator for such events as Summer Cultural Brew, Del Corazòn Film Festival, Humanities in the Landscape and other public art events.
