Who slept with your print?!!! is a print portfolio organized by artists Miguel Aragón and Nabil Gonzalez to celebrate the teaching legacy of Kim and Terri Bauer. Featuring artists from around the country, the portfolio includes numerous UTEP alumni. On the occasion of Kim Bauer’s retirement, we are proud to join the Department of Art in celebrating the important legacy of the Bauers, who have mentored generations of artists at UTEP since 1989.

Jason Scuilla, Variant, electrolytic etching.
Kathryn Polk, Passing judgment, color lithography.
Meg Pohlod, Nevertheless, this comes, screen-print, woodcut, goldleaf.

I met Kim and Terri at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) back in the mid 1990's when I was pursuing my BFA and they have mentored hundreds of art students, most of which come from low-income families as the university is situated along the US-México border in the cities of Juárez, MX-El Paso, TX. Both Kim and Terri have been teaching Printmaking and Drawing at UTEP's art department since 1989 and they have always done their very best to ensure their students succeed; they are my mentors, friends and colleagues and I can truly say that along with my parents, they are the reason for all my success as a printmaker and artist. They have mentored and done so much for their students throughout all these years that I want to honor them by giving them this portfolio, consisting of former students, friends and artists whose work they admire, as a small token of appreciation for all they have done.

I first met Kim Bauer in August 2009, the first day of the fall semester. That first day of class I didn’t know I would be meeting the most influential person of my career as a printmaker and artist. Throughout my time as an undergrad printmaking student at UTEP, Kim always did his best to mentor me and push me to go further in my work and ideas. I am very lucky to know and have worked with such an amazing mentor, artist, colleague, and friend. Thanks to Kim I discovered my true passion for Printmaking.
