Nortejiendo

 October 20, 2026 - January 16, 2027

Tejidos del Entorno is a multimedia installation by the Chihuahua-based collective Nortejiendo, whose practice brings together activism, research, community workshops, and textile practice through collaborative, place-based inquiry. The project examines the current conditions of the Río Chuvíscar through five ecologically significant sites shaped by urban development and histories of public concern.

Developed over the course of a year, the installation combines field research, scientific water analysis, sound recording, photography, and material exploration to create a series of textile-based sculptural masks. Central to the work is a process in which fabrics are immersed alongside water, vegetation, discarded objects, and other materials collected from each site before being transformed through crochet, felting, textile collage, and other experimental textile techniques. The resulting works emerge from a practice grounded in environmental research, material inquiry, and collaborative knowledge-making.
