Capirotada: The Art and Life of Anna Jaquez

Rubin Center Auditorium
Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Anna Jaquez is an El Paso-born artist of Mexican-American descent. She spoke about her work in honor of Women's History Month. Anna Jaquez incorporates her experiences as a woman, a mother, and a Mexican-American living along the border in her artwork. Her sculptures rely heavily on metalsmithing techniques, which influences the scale and the scope of her work. Jaquez received her BFA and MA from the University of Texas at El Paso and her MFA from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. She is a full-time lecturer in the UTEP Department of Art.
