The Third Lie: Chromatic Deflectionswas a site-specific, wall-sized installation that combined text, drawing and detailed, handcrafted embroideries by Chilean artist Mónica Bengoa. The artist explored the transference of photographic images using craft-based techniques. Industrially produced embroidery thread restricted the palette inThe Third Lie, connecting the hand made and the industrial.
Bengoa’s meticulous and theoretically complex installations have been exhibited internationally, including at the 52nd Venice Biennale in Venice, Italy, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, CA, the 2006 ARCO International Fair of Contemporary Art in Madrid, Spain and in 2007 at Fondazione Merz, Torino, Italy. She currently resides in Santiago, Chile where she teaches at the Art School of the Catholic University.
