Community Engagement Task Force
CIELO-G will incorporate cohorts of community college and local educators, graduate students, postdocs and early career scientists, community organizations, and individual community members into all our CIELO-G research projects. With community input, we will address research topics that are critical to our community and its resilience to global change, and we will implement a strong communication and outreach campaign to disseminate relevant scientific research results to our community. Using Collective Impact we will align the projects further with community needs, to develop new research directions and approaches, and to involve additional community partners. |
We will learn how to conceive, integrate and develop participative, community-driven research projects.
Our intent is to perform Community Engagement with an 'Asset-based community development approach' as opposed to “Deficit-based approach”. In other words, or focus is on valuing the expertise and capacity of all members of the community and puts the community needs in the center instead of an approach that assigns roles to groups, such as 'experts' or 'laymen'.
