The Dean of Students Office supports student success by coordinating care, responding to concerns, advocating and connecting students to campus resources that promote wellbeing, safety, and persistence. We work in close partnership with UTEP CARE, Miner Support, and Basic Needs programs to ensure students receive timely, compassionate, and appropriate support when challenges arise.
The Dean of Students Office serves as a central point of connection for Miners seeking guidance or support. Our culture of care focuses on:
Rather than operating in isolation, we collaborate closely with Student Affairs and campus departments to ensure students experience seamless, coordinated support.
UTEP’s Community of Care emphasizes that student success is a shared responsibility. The Dean of Students Office helps advance this commitment by promoting awareness, encouraging early outreach, and responding thoughtfully to concerns that impact student wellbeing, safety, or engagement.
We partner with UTEP CARE to support students who may be experiencing personal crises, safety concerns, or harm. CARE uses a wraparound approach that includes consultation, advocacy, education, and referrals designed to empower students and support wellbeing.
Through collaboration with Miner Support, the Dean of Students Office helps connect students to emergency financial assistance, food and supply resources, housing and utility support, and other services that help stabilize basic needs and support persistence toward degree completion.
The Dean of Students Office supports:
Our goal is to ensure concerns are addressed with care and routed to the most appropriate campus support.
The Dean of Students Office creates a culture of care by coordinating support services that promote student wellbeing, academic success, and engagement. Through collaboration with campus partners, we help students navigate challenges and remain connected to the University community.
