Local bands will have the opportunity to showcase their talent and compete for the title of “Best Band” at this year’s Minerpalooza! UTEP students, faculty, and staff will vote for their favorite bands online starting on August 14 and the top three bands will play live at Texas Western Gold Rush on August 28. The top two finalists will perform at this year’s Minerpalooza on Friday, Sept. 15.
• Must have at least three band members
• Must be available on the following dates:
- July 24–30: Video performance recording availability
- Aug. 28: Texas Western Gold Rush live performance
- Sept. 15: Minerpalooza live performance
The top five bands will receive a free live performance video with professionally recorded audio.
The winner of Battle of the Bands will earn one week of recording studio time and one week of editing, mixing, mastering, and publishing, valued at $5,000, at Genuine Reference Studios.

Voting ends at midnight
ROUND 1: The top five contenders will drop their music videos online.
Watch the music videos online and vote for your three favorite bands that will move on to the next round and play live at Texas Western Gold Rush.
Monday, Aug. 28
7–11 PM
ROUND 2: The semi-finals will feature the top three bands at 9:30 p.m.
Celebrate Miner traditions and the first day of classes with live music, special guests, fireworks, and more, all in honor of UTEP.
Friday, Sept. 15
6–11 PM
ROUND 3: Join us as the final two bands battle it out for the top spot.
Minerpalooza is UTEP’s biggest party of the year. This back-to-school bash features live performances, food trucks, and tons of fun activities and games.
