Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship

The Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship prepares outstanding young people for Foreign Service careers with the U.S. Department of State. It helps successful applicants to finance a two-year Master’s program, provides two summer internships, and guarantees placement as a Foreign Service Officer upon completion of their degree. The program is named for U.S. Ambassador Thomas R. Pickering, whom Time magazine declared the "five star general of the diplomatic corps," and continues to ensure that the Foreign Service reflects the face of America to foreign audiences.  It welcomes applications from members of groups historically underrepresented in the State Department, women, and those with a demonstrated financial need for graduate school.
