The Institute for Applied AI Innovation (AAII) and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) are thrilled to announce that Dr. Anantaa Kotal has been awarded the prestigious CRA Trustworthy AI Research Fellowship for Early Career Scholars.
Funded by Microsoft and managed by the Computing Research Association (CRA), this competitive fellowship is designed to support early-career computing scholars who are pioneering research at the intersection of technical artificial intelligence and humanistic social sciences.
At UTEP, Dr. Kotal leads the PRISM Lab (Private, Responsible, and Interpretable Systems in Machine Learning). Her research addresses critical open challenges in machine learning systems, with active investigations spanning:
Privacy-Preserving Systems: Designing technical frameworks that protect sensitive, private user data while retaining the high utility required for data-driven scientific analysis.
Generative AI & Synthetics: Exploring the security, policy, and societal implications of generative models, including synthetic data generation for public health and national security applications.
Explainability & Fairness: Developing novel models that are interpretable, accountable, and transparent, ensuring that automated decision-making processes are equitable across diverse demographics.
