As a university museum, the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens is committed to providing educational opportunities and increase access to knowledge. In addition to the curation of the permanent collection, the Lhakhang, traveling exhibits, and the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens, our educational programs offer distincitve perspectives of culture and life in the U.S.- Mexico Border, and of the natural diversity of this region to promote critical thinking and inquiry. Educators from all fields and all levels are welcome to reach out to the museum.

Guided tours of the Centennial Museum and Chihuahuan Desert Gardens are available by request. To schedule a guided visit, please contact us at least two weeks in advance.
When submitting your request, please include the total number of people in your group, the average age or grade level of participants, the exact date and time you plan to be on campus, and whether your group will arrive by bus or private vehicle. You are also welcome to share any specific topics or areas of interest you would like us to focus on during the visit.

Education programming at the Centennial Museum is designed to connect visitors with the museum’s permanent collections and temporary exhibitions. Through guided tours, school visits, hands-on activities, and interpretive programs, visitors are invited to explore the natural and cultural history of the Chihuahuan Desert region. Programs may highlight topics such as geology, paleontology, biodiversity, regional history, and the many ways people have lived in and adapted to desert, mountain, and river valley environments over time.
El programa educativo del Museo Centennial está diseñado para conectar a los visitantes con las colecciones permanentes del museo y sus exposiciones temporales. A través de visitas guiadas, visitas escolares, actividades prácticas y programas interpretativos, se invita a los visitantes a explorar la historia natural y cultural de la región del Desierto Chihuahuense. Los programas pueden destacar temas como la geología, la paleontología, la biodiversidad, la historia regional y las diversas maneras en que las personas han vivido y se han adaptado a entornos de desierto, montaña y valles fluviales a lo largo del tiempo.
Learning experiences in the Chihuahuan Desert Gardens encourage visitors to engage directly with the living landscape around them. Through garden tours, outdoor activities, observation-based learning, and seasonal programs, visitors explore native plants, pollinators, desert adaptations, and the ecological relationships that support life in the Chihuahuan Desert. These programs help connect museum learning with the plants, habitats, and environmental stories of our region.
Las experiencias de aprendizaje en los Jardines del Desierto Chihuahuense animan a los visitantes a interactuar directamente con el paisaje vivo que los rodea. A través de recorridos por el jardín, actividades al aire libre, aprendizaje basado en la observación y programas de temporada, los visitantes exploran las plantas nativas, los polinizadores, las adaptaciones del desierto y las relaciones ecológicas que sustentan la vida en el Desierto Chihuahuense. Estos programas ayudan a conectar el aprendizaje del museo con las plantas, los hábitats y las historias ambientales de nuestra región.
