Dr. Beatrice Lee is an assistant professor of rehabilitation sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso. She is the director of the Neurological Disorders and Stress Management Lab. Her research examines malleable risk and protective factors that can lead to optimal mental health and quality of life (e.g., health, social, work, community integration) in individuals with neuropsychiatric disabilities, specifically those with multiple sclerosis. She conceptualizes this line of research mainly through the lens of positive psychology frameworks. Furthermore, her findings inform the development of rehabilitation interventions to help people with disabilities identify and bolster their protective factors and enhance their ability to cope with stress related to their disabilities and mental health conditions. She is also active in grantsmanship and collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines across different universities. She has served as a PI, Co-PI, or Co-I on federal grants from the U.S. Department of Education, Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Regarding clinical experience, she has provided rehabilitation counseling services, mental health counseling, and neuropsychological assessments in state, federal, and non-profit agencies. In terms of service, she is an Associate Editor of the International Journal of Stress Management, a Section Editor for Stress and Health, and an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation.
