Dave Arellano
Major: Interdisciplinary Health Sciences
Research Interests: My research focuses on autoimmune disorders and chronic infectious diseases, including viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal infections. For my dissertation, I am specifically studying multiple sclerosis and the complex challenges posed by this unpredictable disease. Driven by a strong commitment to advancing public health, I aspire to collaborate with organizations such as the CDC, NIH, or the Air Force in the future.
Samantha Garcia
Major: Physical Therapy
Personal Statement: Growing up, cardiology and neurology were my primary interests and have inspired me throughout my education. Through research on multiple sclerosis, I have been able to apply my interests and expand my understanding of health discrepancies. I enjoy learning and continuously building on my skills, as it allows me to meet new people through networking.

Edward Cordova
Major: Rehabilitation Sciences (concentration: Physical Therapy)
Personal Statement: My goals are to be accepted into the Doctorate of Physical therapy program, graduate and give back to my community. I would like to focus on helping athletes, children and individuals affected with neurological conditions, especially those affected by Parkinson’s Disease.

Major: Rehabilitation Sciences (concentration: Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences))
Personal Statement: My interest in the NDSM Lab stems from a desire to broaden my understanding of neurological research and its relevance to speech-language pathology. I bring experience working with children with disabilities, which has deepened my commitment to inclusive and evidence-based care.

Personal Statement: I am committed to a PT career, aiming to create a compassionate and empowering atmosphere for all patients. I am passionate about collaborating with vulnerable populations, particularly individuals with impairments, to help restore strength, independence, and confidence to improve quality of life.
Pamela Hernandez
Major: Rehabilitation Sciences (concentration: Physical Therapy)
Personal Statement: I have a passion for helping individuals regain mobility and independence. My interest in rehabilitation stemmed from my own journey recovering from a back injury. I am currently involved in the medical field which is helping me to develop my social skills with patients. My goal is to eventually pursue a doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Personal Statement: I’m passionate about helping individuals improve their mobility and overall quality of life. My interests include working with people with disabilities and rehabilitation research. In the future, I hope to pursue a career as a physical therapist.

Pablo Valdez Velador
Major: Rehabilitation Sciences (concentration: Physical Therapy)
Personal Statement: My goal is to become a physical therapist, specializing in working with patients, particularly children, who have disabilities caused by mental disorders. I am committed to improving the quality of life of my patients and engaging with them daily to build strong relationships, making them and their families take pride in their progress and find joy in the final outcomes.
