UTEP OT faculty and student received TOTA awards
A student and faculty member from the UTEP MOT Program received awards at the 2016 Annual Rocky Mountain Central Conference. Victoria Martyn, a Class 2016 student, received Student Leadership Award for her outstanding effort leading the UTEP MOT Student Occupational Therapy Association. Dr. Cecilia Fierro, OTR, OTD, a faculty member of the MOT Program, received 2 awards: Roster of Merit and Letter of Appreciation. Martyn led the SOTA members to win AOTA’s inaugural Student Advocacy Award in 2015-2016 and was honored in the AOTA national conference in April 2016. Fierro was the TOTA (Texas Occupational Therapy Association) Rio Grande District Chair for 6 years (2011-2016) and served on multiple TOTA committees prior to that. During her tenure as the District Chair, she coordinated over 24 CEU (over 100 continuing education hours) events for the Rio Grande District. Her exceptional leadership efforts have not only provided opportunities of continuing education to OTs all over the Texas State, but also brought visibility to the SW Texas OT community.
Congratulations! Tori and Dr. Fierro!
