Occupational Therapy
Welcome!!
Welcome to the Occupational Therapy Program at the University of Texas at El Paso! We are part of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the College of Health Sciences. We currently offer a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree which can be completed in 2½ years.
We are planning a transition to a doctoral degree pending approval by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
We believe in active learning and offer opportunities for students to learn in real community settings very early in the program. The MOT program concludes with 2 twelve-week clinical fieldwork rotations, or internships. The OTD program will require an additional 14 week doctoral experience and capstone project.
Upon successful completion of the didactic coursework and clinical experiences, students are eligible to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy exam, which, with successful completion, makes students certified and eligible for licensure in any state to practice Occupational Therapy.
