Testing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

All UTEP Educator Preparation Program qualifying exams have been suspended until further notice due to COVID-19. In lieu of taking the qualifying exam at this time, you should take the free 240Tutoring diagnostic test(s) for your concentration. Then you must attend a virtual Test Preparation Workshop during which you will be instructed on how to design a study plan. The study plan should be included when you submit your online EPP application. Contact Haley Richardson (hrichardson2@utep.edu) to inquire about virtual Test Preparation Workshop dates and information.

The Test Preparation Workshop is required prior to submitting your online EPP admission application. During the workshop, you will construct a two-week study plan that will be submitted as part of your online EPP admissions application. Once your application has been accepted, you will be invited to attend a virtual EPP Workshop. After successfully completing the virtual EPP Workshop, you will be admitted into the program and receive access to register for EPP courses.

Contact Haley Richardson (hrichardson2@utep.edu) to request state exam approval. Since UTEP Educator Preparation Program qualifying exams have been temporarily suspended due to social distancing restrictions, you can show that you are ready for your first attempt at the state exam by doing the following:

1. Complete the 240Tutoring study modules for the exam, and
2. Score 78% or higher on the 240Tutoring Practice Exam (you have three attempts),

Once you have done this, email Haley Richardson with your name, UTEP ID, TEA ID, name of the exam, and the 240Tutoring Practice Exam score report. Upon review of your 240Tutoring Practice Exam, you will be approved to take the state exam. Please note: State exams are run through Pearson; you can check https://home.pearsonvue.com/tea for exam availability.  

UTEP students can subscribe to 240Tutoring (240Tutoring.com) for $20 per month, which is 50% of the regular cost. Email Haley Richardson (hrichardson2@utep.edu) if you are interested in subscribing to 240Tutoring at the discounted price. If you are currently subscribed to 240Tutoring, you should continue your current 30-day subscription, cancel before your next billing cycle, and contact Haley Richardson to receive information on how to subscribe under the reduced fee. Note that when you reactivate your subscription, you will have the option to log in to an existing account, so you will not lose your progress.

Register for the earliest date available you feel you will be prepared to pass the exam, as testing slots continue to fill for the summer months. Use this time to study intensively and prepare as if you only have one chance at the exam. We will work with students on a case-by-case basis to ensure your progress to student teaching is not hindered.
