Communication Tools
Announcements
In Blackboard Ultra, announcements are used to send students important messages from your university, instructor, or teaching assistant. Announcements are found on the right-hand sidebar of each course and will appear on the activity section of the website itself.

Course Calendar
In Blackboard Ultra, the course calendar tools in each course allows students to view a monthly overview of assignments and assessments which are due. In every course, your course calendar can be found by clicking the second button labeled Calendar.

Messages
Messages are the primary way within Blackboard Ultra that students can communicate with their instructor and other students within their course. In the Messages tab, students can add new messages and view messages sent and received.

Discussion Boards
Discussion boards can be viewed in either the module of a respective course or under the Discussions tab, found under the course header. In the discussion itself, students can either write their submission directly, upload a document, or include a link to their reply.

Assignment and Assessment Tools
Assignments
Your instructor may utilize assignments to measure student learning during your course. Assignments can be located on the homepage of your course, within the respective weekly learning module or folder. On clicking on an assignment, you can view the total points possible, a description, as well as an option to write a submission, attach a file or link, and add comments to your submission. To submit an assignment, click the submit button, and you will receive an email confirming that the assignment has been received.

Assessments
Assessments can include tests, exams, or quizzes that your instructor will assign to their students. Assessments can be located on the homepage of your course, within the respective weekly learning module or folder. On opening an assessment, you can view the due date, number of attempts, and maximum points.

View Grades and Feedback
To view the gradebook, click on the Gradebook tab, where you will see a list of assignments and assessments within your course. On the right-hand side, your grade will be visible. If your instructor has added comments to the assignment, a comment box will be to the right of your assigned grade.
