Contact Names in Your Cell Phone

An incident has been reported in which a woman's handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet, etc., was stolen.  Twenty minutes after the theft, she called her husband from a pay phone to tell him what had happened.  He stated that he had just received a text message from her asking about their PIN number, and that he replied by giving the number.

When the couple rushed down to the bank, the staff told them all the money had been withdrawn from their account.  The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text her husband from the contact list to get a hold of their PIN number.  Within 20 minutes, the thief had withdrawn all the money from their bank account. 

Moral of the story:  Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list.  Avoid using names like "Home", "Honey", "Hubby", "Sweetheart", "Dad", "Mom", etc.  More importantly, when sensitive information is being asked for through text messages, CONFIRM who is asking by calling them back.  Also, when you are being texted by friends or family to meet somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you can't reach them, be very careful about going somewhere to meet "family and friends" who text you.
