The 21st century museum is an active site that facilitates learning, dialogue and understanding for a diverse, multi-generational and multi-cultural audience. UTEP's college of Liberal Arts has responded to this new environment with a museum studies minor that is interdisciplinary, international and interactive, building on the unique strengths of our region and our student demographics. Housed in the Department of Art, the minor is jointly hosted by the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Department of History, the Rubin Center and UTEP's Centennial Museum. Electives are offered from colleges across campus, including the College of Business and the College of Science, and students benefit from hands on participation in a wide variety of internships, service learning and research projects on campus, in the surrounding community and increasingly at sites around the country.
