Daniel Chacón (Professor)
Fiction Writing, Latinx Literature, Mysticism, Fairy Tales, Koans, and Kafka

Daniel Chacón is the author of seven books of fiction, including The Last Philosopher in Texas: Fictions and Superstitions, Kafka in a Skirt: Stories from the Wall, and Hotel Juárez: Stories, Rooms, and Loops. His work has received the American Book Award, the PEN Oakland Prize for Fiction, the Southwest Book Award, and the Hudson Prize. He is currently completing a nonfiction book, Nepantla Realism (under contract), which examines creativity through mysticism, physiology, neural networks, and artificial intelligence. This research is also shared through his newsletter, The Writer and the Brain. Chacón is the founder and host of Words on a Wire, serves as Editor-in-Chief of Huizache Magazine, and is Chair of the Creative Writing Department.
