ESOL Students Participate in Project MOVE
On Saturday, April 15th, 2023, about 30 students from UTEP's ESOL program, who are also members of META (Multilingual Exchange and Teaching Association), participated as volunteers for Project MOVE 2023. For more than a decade, Project MOVE (Miner Opportunities for Volunteer Experiences) has helped UTEP students prioritize the importance of community service by assigning them an array of volunteering opportunities. Students were sponsored and guided by the non-profit organization Rebuilding Together El Paso. They participated in a series of painting projects where they were assigned to paint specific houses from low-income owners who are provided repairs and improvements at no cost to them. One of the strategic goals of UTEP is to foster well-being in our community so that we all live healthier, more prosperous, and culturally enriched lives. The ESOL students who participated in Project MOVE 2023 contributed to this greater mission, thereby learning new skills, bonding, and giving back to their communities.
