Research

Our faculty pride themselves on conducting high quality research. We currently boast four labs operating that focus on critical topics in health such as: clinical health-based interventions, decision-making as it relates to stages of change and health, addictive behaviors in minoritized communities, and risk factors for sexual violence.
All faculty have received funding for their work; multiple graduate students while in the [program have earned funding to support their research as well. Research opportunities, and in some cases, local funding, also are available through the UT School of Public Health (a branch of the University of Texas at Houston's Health Science Center), the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
Interdisciplinary collaborative efforts include work with other Departments at UTEP, including the Departments of Public Health Sciences (College of Health Sciences), Biological Sciences (College of Science), the College of Nursing, and Pharmaceutical Sciences (School of Pharmacy).
