Research
Our faculty pride themselves on conducting high quality research. We currently have five labs operating that focus on various topics in health such as: adolescent risk taking, injury control, intervention adherence, decision-making as it relates to stages of change and health, addictive behavior in minority communities, behavioral aspects of chronic illnesses, and the neurocognitive sequelae of selected medical conditions in childhood.
Research opportunities, and in some cases, local funding, also are available through the UT School of Public Health (a branch of the University of Texas at Houston's Health Science Center), the Paso del Norte Health Foundation, the Center for Border Health Research, the Texas Department of Transportation, La Fe Clinic, and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
