Dr. Chris Dickey
Professor and chair, Department of Music

Dr. Chris Dickey joins UTEP from their role at Washington State University, where they taught undergraduate and graduate studio courses, conducted the tuba-euphonium ensemble, and mentored undergraduate and graduate research. They have also served in multiple leadership roles, including director of the David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities and graduate program coordinator for the School of Music, where they have supported interdisciplinary initiatives and student development. An internationally recognized performer and recording artist, Dr. Dickey has an extensive portfolio of solo, chamber, and orchestral performances, as well as numerous recordings and commissioned works that contribute to the advancement of brass repertoire. Their scholarly and creative activity also includes publications and invited presentations focused on music pedagogy and inclusive practices in performance and education. Dr. Dickey earned a Doctor of Music from Northwestern University, along with a master’s degree from The University of Iowa and a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Illinois University.
