Freshman Orientation
How long is Freshman Orientation?
- Spring Admits: One day, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (check-in at 7:30 AM).
- Summer/Fall Admits: Two days. Both days are required.
- Day 1: Check-in at 7:00 AM, sessions 8:00 AM–5:30 PM.
- Day 2: Check-in at 7:00 AM, sessions 8:00 AM–2:00 PM.
When will I register for classes?
- Spring: Course registration happens during your orientation day.
- Summer/Fall: Course registration happens on Day 2 after your advising appointment.
What should I bring?
- Photo ID
- UTEP Student ID number
- Vaccination records (if not submitted)
- Notebook and pen
Is housing provided during orientation?
Housing is not included. Students can contact UTEP Housing and Residence Life for lodging (fees apply).
Are meals included?
No. Meals are not provided, but food options are available on campus.
Can parents attend Freshman Orientation?
Parents should only attend Parent and Family Orientation, which is offered on Day 2 (Saturday) during Summer Freshman Orientation.
Do I need to attend both days in Summer/Fall?
Yes. Both days are required.
What if I already have AP, IB, or dual credit?
Bring unofficial transcripts or score reports for your advisor to review.
Do I get my Miner Gold Card at Freshman Orientation?
Only if you are pre-enrolled in at least one course and have uploaded your photo through the Get Mobile App.
What if I am late to check-in?
Arrive as early as possible. You may miss important sessions if late.
