Transfer Orientation
Is orientation required for transfer students?
Yes. Orientation is required before registering for classes.
How long is Transfer Orientation?
Transfer Orientation runs from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with check-in starting at 7:30 AM. Day 2 is reserved for advising appointments if assigned.
Do transfer students get advisors?
Yes. Each transfer student is assigned a dedicated advisor based on the number of credit hours transferred.
When will I register for classes?
You’ll register after your advising appointment (usually Day 2).
What if my transcripts are not received before orientation?
It will be challenging for advisors to provide accurate course recommendations. Please send transcripts early.
Can I bring unofficial transcripts to orientation?
Yes, but official transcripts must still be submitted.
What if I already completed an associate’s degree?
Your credits will be reviewed and applied toward your UTEP degree.
Do I need to attend both days?
Day 1 is required. Day 2 depends on your advising assignment.
Can I switch to Freshman Orientation if I prefer?
No. You must attend the orientation that matches your student type.
Do transfer students attend Parent and Family Orientation?
No. Parent and Family Orientation is only offered during Summer Freshman Orientation.
