Irene Resendiz
Irene Resendiz serves as the Manager of Student Programming and Engagement for the Peer Leader Program. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in English and American Literature from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership from Texas A&M University–Central Texas. Passionate about servant leadership, Irene is dedicated to providing students with exceptional support and guidance, fostering their skill development, and empowering them to succeed.

Ramon Varela

Ray Varela serves as a Lecturer for UNIV 1301 and Faculty Liaison for the Peer Leader Program. He holds a Bachelors in Multidisciplinary Studies, Master's in Educational Administration with a Higher Education focus, and is planning to complete his doctorate in Educational Leadership in Fall 2025. With each of his degrees coming from UTEP, Ray finds his role in education vital for serving the student population in the borderland. Ray creates an inclusive classroom, provides mentorship, and empowers his students to dream big as they navigate the rigors of higher education through graduation.
