Biological Agents Research is overseen by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). The IBCs role is to ensure that research involving recombinant DNA (rDNA), synthetic nucleotides, infectious agents (pathogens), biological toxins, nanotechnology, or arthropods is classified at the appropriate biosafety level and done in accordance with all appropriate guidelines, regulations and good safety practices. The Biological Agents Research Office and IACUC assist investigators in fulfilling their obligation to plan and conduct biological agents research in accordance with the highest level of safe scientific principles.
